MY FAVOURITE THINGS RIGHT NOW

Last few months have been so busy that it’s hard to believe it’s already October. I’m quite enjoying all the autumnal vibes at the moment though. It’s hard not to be inspired, no? I just love looking at the nature and trees losing their old leaves. There is just something enchanting about fall and everything that comes with it.

However, this post is not really about autumn. Well, it kind of is, but I just thought it might be a nice idea to do a post about my favourite things at the moment. I hope you like them as much as I do!

1. SHEEPSKIN RUGS

I’m obsessed with sheepskin rugs at the moment.  Our double sheepskin rug is a few years old but it’s still going strong. I’m not going to lie though, it’s quite high maintenance. Sheepskin rugs are hard to keep clean if you have kids or pets. You have to brush it regularly and liquid is an absolutely nightmare to remove, but I still think they are worth it. It’s probably one of the reasons why I only use the rug during the colder months . Otherwise I’m pretty sure it would be ruined by now. But, I would still get another one. Sheepskin rugs are so cosy and are a great way to add extra comfort and style to your home which is why I love them (no matter how high maintenance they are).

2. SEAGRASS

Seagrass is definitely my second biggest autumn/winter obsession. Seagrass is so versatile and perfect if you’re going for that relaxed, informal look. I’m in love with this pouffe from Maisons du Monde. It’s pretty small but perfect for our second living room (which is quite small and narrow).

I also got these seagrass storage boxes from Homebase which seem to be available in store only. They were amazing value at £12 so I couldn’t resist buying them. I should warn you though, these seagrass boxes tend to smell quite strong. I don’t actually mind the smell (you do get used to it or maybe it goes away after a while) but if you’re inpatient you could try airing them outside for a while.

3. BOOKS

I don’t usually have time to read books (I do most of my reading online) but this autumn I decided to make a change. Reading really helps me to unwind and unplug so my new routine involves reading a book when I have a bit of me-time. I’ve been dying to read the ‘The Woman I Wanted To Be’ by Diane von Furstenberg so I ordered the book on Amazon few weeks ago. I haven’t finished reading it yet so I can’t really comment, but so far so good!

4. SILK FLOWERS

So, you must know by now how much I adore fresh cut flowers. I love having flowers in our hall, dining room and lounge. Although, lately I’ve felt like I’m spending way too much money on flowers so I decided to invest in some quality silk flowers in stead. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still buy fresh cut flowers but probably not every 2 weeks or so (and not for all the room downstairs). Faux flowers look so real these days that you’d me mad not to give them ago.

I bought my bouquet from Ebony & Ivory Interiors and I love that I got to pick all the stems myself. I took the vase to shop with me and spend a good 30 min picking the right flowers for it. I really wanted to create quite an elegant and simple bouquet. The flowers look very real from a distance which I love. Also, I think it’s a good idea to go for a mixed bouquet if you want your artificial flower arrangement to look as real as possible. Remember, artificial flowers and plants will always cost you more than real ones but they are better value long term.

5. UE BOOM

I’m still obsessed with our newish UE Boom Speaker which I bought this summer. I love the minimalist design and that it’s available in so many different colours. We ended up buying it in black and white and honestly it’s the coolest little speaker ever. You can interconnect the speakers to play the same music in multiple rooms which is super handy. We bought ours on Amazon but I do think it’s worth shopping around (especially before Christmas).

6. AUTUMNAL PLANTS

I’m loving vibrant autumnal plants, like amaranth at the moment. I know they are relatively short lived plants which suits me just fine, since I’m a serial plant killer after all. Although, we don’t spend that much time in the garden during the winter months, I still want our garden and the decking area to feel welcoming and cosy.  Luckily these little plants from Homebase seem to do the trick.

7. PINEAPPLE WALL ART

I know pineapple accessories are more summery than autumnal, but I truly believe (and hope) that they are here to stay. When I spotted this pineapple wall decoration, I knew it would be perfect for our kitchen. I’ve had this tiny gap that I’ve tried to fill next to our fridge and I’m so pleased it’s no longer empty. If I had a bigger wall, I’d be tempted to group 3 of them together to make a real statement.

Wow,the post is very lovely! Have you heard of terrariums? It will be a perfect decoration no matter where you put it~ Also, as for me who tends to forget to water the plants sometimes, i prefer terrariums because it do not require much water and can still last vry long! ^^

Yes, I do love terrariums! I'm a serial plant killer so succulents in terrariums are the way to go 😛 Thanks for the comment. Pia X
