Now that we are spending more time indoors, pure indoor air has become more important than ever. As an allergy sufferer, I have always been interested in finding new ways to improve the air quality in our home. I know having houseplants help a little, but it’s not really enough to notice a difference. As a family, we’ve had to find a whole new way to live in the past month or so. I know it’s only temporary but still. Being in the house pretty much 24/7 with two adults and two primary school-aged children has certainly been an adjustment. I have always invested in beautiful furniture and accessories, but I have realised I could be doing more when it comes to creating a ‘healthier’ house in terms of indoor air quality.
Air purifiers have been around for a while, but none of them seemed worth the investment until I came across Briiv. Designed and made in the UK, Briiv is not your average air purifier. It certainly doesn’t look like one, am I right? Briiv is an innovative, natural product designed to be just as effective at cleaning the air you breathe, without the environmental impact. Current air filters don’t protect the environment and the plastic HEPA filters produce tons of waste (the filters need changing every 6 months or so).

Briiv is a natural product which utilises the natural micro-structures of moss, coconut, carbon, and wool to filter the air. It gets rid of harmful fine particles, harmful gases, pollen allergens, and bacteria/mold spores. It is also 96% plastic free which means that most of the product is completely recyclable or biodegradable. This is such an important step towards more sustainable and green living, not just for your home but also for the entire planet.

Briiv uses a unique four-stage filtration system that is entirely natural. A combination of natural materials is used to filter the air, including dried moss and coconut fibers to filter large particles and pet danger, then hemp and activated carbon (also derived from coconuts) is used to remove toxins and odors. A special natural wool is used as the last stage to remove any tiny PM2.5 particles and to make sure the air is being cleansed before being released. Thanks to its natural filtration system, the filter can be simply composted when it’s time to replace it. The filters last up to 6 months, with the wool component replaced every 3 months. You can also monitor your usage via an app that tracks your filter usage as it runs out, so you don’t have to guess or worry about when is the right time to change the filter.

Briiv unit will clean a 6-meter x 6-meter room in about an hour. That’s the size of a pretty large living room or a studio apartment. There is also optional integration available for Alexa and Google Assistant if you’d like to integrate Briiv into your smart home. Just imagine how convenient it would be to set the timer before you get back from work or the gym. You don’t of course need to link it to anything if you don’t want to, but it’s nice to have the option.

Yes, but Briiv has made this super easy. You simply remove the glass section and then take out the filters and they will biodegrade naturally. And if you’re a serial plant killer like me, you’ll be pleased to hear that it doesn’t require any watering. Best news ever!

If I’m totally honest with you, it’s the design that first caught my attention. Briiv doesn’t look anything like a traditional air purifier. That’s a huge compliment by the way! It’s very minimalist and stylish. I also love the blend of natural materials incorporated in this design. It would look beautiful at home or in an office environment. In an ideal world I would have one in each room, or at least in the rooms we use most. It would make a stunning centrepiece on the dining room table or in the hall. I also find it soothing to look at. Briiv really is the perfect way to bring the outdoors in, don’t you think?

Could Briiv be the most sustainable air filter on the planet? It certainly seems that way. It’s definitely the best looking air purifier I’ve seen and the smart technology makes it very convenient for busy households.
Better airflow and fewer toxins is something that we should all aim for. Poor air quality has a huge impact on your overall health and on the comfort of your home. If you have pets and/or children it is even more important to keep you and your loved ones allergy/symptom-free.
I’ve honestly never even thought about getting an air filter, until now. I really should have since I suffer from both dust mites and pet allergies.
Odor-removing air purifiers like Briiv are particularly handy in open-plan kitchens like ours. I also love that Briiv is more sustainable and natural than any other air purifier on the market. I’m also addicted to scented candles and do occasionally worry about the damaging effect on indoor air quality (although I don’t use them in small, closed spaces). Having an air purifier would give me peace of mind and I could continue to use my scented candles without a worry.

I think so too! They will launch the product early next year and I can totally see it on my shopping list 🙂
