Clean indoor air is something many of us take for granted. Since discovering Briiv in 2021, I’ve been paying a lot more attention to the quality of our indoor air. I have several allergies (animal, dust mite, tree, etc.) so breathing clean air is important. Even if you don’t suffer from allergies, you should know that clean indoor air is vital for your health as it can affect your sleep and cognitive function. I’m always looking for new ways to manage my allergies and love discovering new products and gadgets that can help me.
When I heard that the new Briiv 2 Pro was going to be released, I was really excited to try it out. I’ve been following Briiv’s journey from the very beginning and have been a user for many years now. Did I mention that I am now a Briiv ambassador? This just goes to show how much I love the product, and I will continue to share my honest opinions and experiences with you in the future as well.
WHAT’S BRIIV?
Briiv is the world’s most sustainable air filter. And the most beautiful, if I may say so. And it all started with a simple idea: to create a product that could both improve your health and help the environment. Sounds a little too good to be true, doesn’t it? Except it isn’t. Briiv uses all-natural components consisting of moss, coconut microstructures and a nano-matrix filter to purify the air. It is the first truly design-led, eco-friendly air purifier out there and there is nothing quite like it. BRIIV 2 PRO – A NEW ENHANCED VERSION
I have been very happy with my Briiv and use it every day. But I was naturally curious to see what the new Briiv 2 Pro could do that my old one couldn’t. After all, they look very similar. The Briiv 2 Pro does have a couple of new improvements to it. The main one is that it now uses activated carbon as the top filter to enhance the removal of unwanted odours, such as cooking and pet smells. It also comes with locally sourced Yorkshire moss, which is great for dusty homes and is washable. I quite like the idea of layering the carbon with the moss for extra filtration. The exciting thing about the Briiv 2 Pro is that you can put a few drops of essential oil in it to make the air smell better. The new built-in air quality monitoring system is also a wonderful addition.
SETTING UP & TESTING
Setting up my Briiv 2 Pro was super quick and simple. Once the three parts are assembled, you just download the app. Briiv can be controlled using the touch control display on the front of the unit as well. I’ve been using my new Briiv for a few weeks now and I’m impressed. I’ve had it in a few different rooms to see how well it works. I’ve got my original Briiv in our bedroom, so this one will probably stay in our kitchen/dining area. It’s a big, open space and can get a lot of cooking smells, so it’s really needed there. My favourite thing about the Briiv 2 Pro is that it detects when the air needs to be cleaned. This means that it is on all the time in our open-plan kitchen, but thanks to the low noise level, you won’t be able to hear anything. It is much quieter than the original Briiv, especially at lower settings. It also uses very little power, so I can leave it on 24/7. And thanks to the improved app, I can link both of my Briiv devices together and get regular updates on the quality of the air. It also alerts me when the filter needs changing, which is very useful.
BUILT-IN SCENT DIFFUSER
I was really excited to try out the new built-in fragrance diffuser. I love it when our home smells good. I mean who doesn’t? But finding the perfect balance between an overpowering scent and a subtle one can be difficult. With Briiv, you can diffuse your favourite essential oils throughout the room. Simply place up to 10 drops in the fragrance bud which goes inside the unit. It also comes with a couple of cleaning sticks to help you clean the device after using the essential oils. Now, I would say that the fragrance is very subtle. I had to use the maximum number of drops to be able to smell anything. Of course, this also depends on the type of essential oils you use. Higher quality oils (more concentrated) will have a stronger scent. It was also much easier to detect the scent in a smaller room than in a large open-plan area. If you are looking for a diffuser that is going to fill a room with a strong aroma, then I think you’ll be disappointed. The Briiv 2 Pro gives off a subtle, fresh, clean scent. It’s more of a lingering fragrance in the air, which is my preference over a strong aroma to be honest.
CLEANING
The cleaning part is easy. All you have to do is remove the various filters and replace and/or wash them. The nano matrix filter should be replaced every 3 months, but the Yorkshire moss filters can be hand-washed. You can also buy spare parts at any time.
SUSTAINABILITY
Briiv 2 Pro is just as sustainable as its predecessor. The packaging is made from recycled material and the filtering elements are naturally occurring and sustainably sourced (moss and coconut). The unit itself is biodegradable and made in the UK. This makes Briiv more environmentally friendly than any other air filter on the market.
MY VERDICT
There is no doubt that the new Briiv 2 Pro is an upgrade from the original. It has the same aesthetics, plus some cool new features that make it more user-friendly. I only wish it was available in multiple colours so you could match it with the interior. Oh well, maybe one day! The only negative is probably the relatively high price point, but it’s a pretty good investment, considering I’ve had mine since 2021 without any problems.
