OUR ROOM AT COWORTH PARK

I had the pleasure to stay at the idyllic Coworth Park hotel back in October for a short relaxing spa break (without the children obviously!). Our room was pretty impressive. Modern grandeur is probably the best way to describe it. It was luxurious, but very comfortable. The coolest feature however was the huge copper bath in the bathroom. Honestly, I’ve never seen a bath like that! It was big, bold and impossible to take your eyes off. I thought it would be rude not to feature it on the blog. It wasn’t the copper bath that sold the hotel for me by the way. My husband had booked the hotel way before I knew about the copper bath. But, it didn’t take me long to find out about the bath tub of my dreams (thank you Instagram) and of course I wanted to make sure that our room would definitely have one.

This was my first stay at Coworth Park. I used to live in Windsor (which is right next to Ascot where the hotel is located), so it was really nice to go back to my old neighbourhood. It’s the perfect distance from London too. It takes about an hour to drive to Ascot which is ideal if you’re looking for a short spa escape. We didn’t want to bring the children with us this time, although the hotel is child-friendly. I believe they offer baby sitting services, but there is no kids club on site. I wanted this break to be all about relaxation and charging those batteries. I always sleep like a baby when I’m staying at hotels. Maybe it’s to do with the change of scenery and/or just being able to switch off. Anyway, it was blissful, as I’m sure you can imagine.

Our room was beautifully furnished. All the rooms have been recently decorated to an extremely high standard. There is a nice mix of traditional and contemporary going on and lots of horse wall art/statues dotted around the hotel (keeping up with the equestrian theme). By the way, Coworth Park is the only hotel in the UK to feature its own polo fields, including its own polo academy. We stayed in their Mansion deluxe room which was located in the main building. It was the perfect size for the two of us, although the view of the parking lot was a bit disappointing. It didn’t really matter since I just kept admiring the gorgeous copper bath the entire time. I called the hotel in advance to check that we were definitely getting a copper bath in our room. I was kind of surprised how organised I was, but I’m lucky I asked them because they don’t have copper baths in all the rooms. I didn’t know whether we were going to get one until we got there, but I’m so happy that I managed to get it in the end. You’re probably wondering whether I managed to use the bath while I was there.. I made sure I did, although their spa is only a short walk away (5 min) if you need some additional relaxation.

Like I said, I really loved the room, although I wasn’t fan of the bed. It was a bit too old fashioned for my liking (it was comfy though) but everything else was just perfect. I loved the art work, the marble bathroom, the chic coffee table and the built in wardrobe. Everything was very elegant and comfortable. They also surprised us with a bottle of Veuve Cliquet and fresh flowers. I think the flowers were part of our deal, but the champagne was definitely a surprise. You can probably imagine how happy I was sipping champagne in my copper bath!

The bathroom was one of the most impressive I’ve seen. Fully marbled bathroom is always going to be a showstopper, am I right? Although it felt like the bath tub was definitely the focal point of the room. The wall decal next to the bath was a genius idea. It felt like the kind of scenery you should be looking at, considering the location. It was made of water proof fabric but the print quality was amazing. I also love the idea of smaller side tables in the bathroom (if you have a large bathroom that is). Don’t feel like you are just limited to bathroom furniture. Chrome glass side tables can work pretty much in every room of the house.

Last but not least, it’s definitely worth dining at their signature Michelin star restaurant. You do need to book it in advance as it was fully booked on the night we were there. The food was amazing. We did a tasting menu with matching wines and it wasn’t badly priced at all compared to central London restaurant prices. Also, they have an amazing piano player in the drawing room at the weekends. I didn’t catch his name, but he was absolutely fantastic and kept playing whatever the audience requested. He was super talented and seemed like a lovely person too. The entire hotel, both staff and other guests, made our stay very welcoming and honestly we didn’t want to leave. Now I just need to figure out how I can talk my husband into getting a copper bath for our next house. Luckily I have a few years to get him used to the idea..

Sounds like a real treat! I’m glad you enjoyed your stay… and yes that copper tub is a stunner. I also noticed that despite the fact that the tub was copper lined, the rest of the accessories were kept as chrome. A wise choice. And lastly, I absolutely loved those line drawings of the polo players on their horses!! I would love to have a couple in my bedroom too.

It really was something special! I agree about keeping the rest of the accessories chrome. Too much gold in a bathroom can look tacky (if you over do it)! I also liked how they combined old and new. So classy! Thanks for commenting 🙂
