BRIIV LAUNCHES NEW HOME FRAGRANCE COLLECTION

* In partnership with Briiv.

Last month I told you about my new air filter, the Briiv 2 Pro. One of the best things about this air purifier is that it has a built-in fragrance diffuser. This means that it cleans the air first and gets rid of all the bad stuff before adding a subtle fragrance. Briiv 2 Pro also has built-in air quality monitoring, so it is always at its lowest setting in our open-plan kitchen. Whenever I start cooking, the AI detects that the air needs to be cleaned and automatically switches to a higher setting. Having a built-in scent diffuser in an air purifier is a dream come true as it means that our kitchen smells fresh and clean all the time.

Briiv sent me their new home fragrance collection to test, consisting of three different scents, all made from pure essential oils. Each set comes with a pack of diffuser buds, which can be used with Briiv 2 and Briiv 2 Pro. All the fragrances are free of parabens, petrochemicals, sulfates and synthetic ingredients. And, as part of Briiv’s commitment towards sustainability, the fragrances have been created by an independent supplier here in the UK.

Here are my thoughts on the three different fragrance oils.

MOUNTAIN, AIR, MORNING DEW

I’ll start with my favourite fragrance, which is a blend of pine, bergamot, grapefruit and ylang ylang essential oils. I used 8 drops but probably didn’t need that many. I could smell the fragrance immediately. The citrus was quite strong, which I liked considering we keep our Briiv in the kitchen. I set the device on a 1-hour cycle so that it would clean the air and fill the room with the fragrance as quickly as possible. I was really impressed by the quality and the strong scent of this fragrance. It’s the perfect combination of fruity and sweet. I could still smell it a few hours later, although the scent was weaker. The grapefruit and floral notes make this an ideal summer fragrance, but I love herbal scents so much that I’m sure this will be my favourite all year round.

FOREST, EARTH, RAIN

I was really excited to try this as I love the smell of a forest, especially after a rain. The scent was a little more subtle than the one I tested before. The blend of benzoin, frankincense and ho wood essential oils work together perfectly. The fragrance is subtle, fresh and very uplifting. It’s sweeter than other earthy essential oils I’m used to, in a good way. I added a few more drops to my fragrance bud but it didn’t make a huge difference. If you like subtle, fresh fragrances, you’ll love this. My 1-hour cycle made our kitchen smell like it had just been deep-cleaned. Pretty nice, right?

BEACH, SALT, AIR

If you’re missing the warmer months, you’ll be pleased to hear that beach, salt & air fragrance, is like a holiday in a bottle. The essential oils of amyris, lime, lavender and marjoram will transport you to a beach in Devon. The lime and the lavender will add to the relaxation and will make this a perfect scent for bedtime as well. I used 8 drops in the diffuser and could smell it as I stood next to it. I’ve used all these essential oils in a fairly large room, so you may need fewer drops if you have a smaller space.

Overall I am very impressed with the new range of fragrances. They work much better with my Briiv 2 Pro than my regular essential oils. I guess that this has something to do with how potent the oil is and how it’s been formulated. The scents are strong (some more than others) but not overpowering. They also seem of high quality and didn’t give me a headache like some other fragrances. I’d love the option of buying them separately, especially as I’ve found my favourite. On the other hand, it’s nice to be able to change them every season, so you never get bored. And you only need a couple of drops, which makes them well worth the extra expense.
