ELEVATE YOUR VALENTINE’S (OR GALENTINES!) DAY TABLE SETTING WITH COLOURED GLASSWARE

* In partnership with Coco & Henry.

If you’ve been reading my blog, you’ll know how much I love coloured glass at the moment. It’s a huge trend right now, from lighting pendants to glassware, especially in subtle, earthy tones. The thing is, coloured (or stained) glass has always played a big part in Nordic design. I remember being surrounded by colourful hand-blown glasses and vases since childhood, so this is not just a fad. Beautifully tinted glassware will help you dress up any table setting this Valentine’s (or Galentine’s!) Day if you’re planning a fancy dinner at home.

One of my ethos this year is to pick quality over quantity. This is a long-term goal of mine, and although it’s not always possible, choosing premium items that are made with longevity and timelessness in mind often outlive the cheaper alternatives. So, you can understand my excitement when I discovered a new Australian lifestyle brand, Coco & Henry, who create & curate unique and practical products that are made to last. I was especially drawn to their sophisticated Marnie glassware collection which comes in the most elegant design and colours to suit all types of interior schemes this Valentine’s Day.

“Our home tells our story. From the everyday items, to the special pieces filled with memory, our home is a reflection of who we are, who lives here, and how we live. With Coco & Henry we want to create and curate items that are worthy of being part of your story”.

THE CURVED SILHOUETTE DESIGN

There is no denying that the sustainable luxury brand have nailed the design details down to perfection with their Marnie collection. The retro-style glasses and carafe with the soft hues are perfect for any occasion. The collection is available in three different colours (clear, smoke and teal) and is made of high-quality borosilicate glass. These tumblers are the ideal size for pretty much any drink; iced coffee, wine, water, juice, or anything! They are incredibly practical too, but more about that soon. I can’t think of a nicer way to cheer up your day than with pretty glasses like these. And let’s not forget, the curved shape evokes calmness and zen helping you establish a calming home.

STAINED GLASS (COLOUR SMOKE)

The easiest way to add a bit of oomph to your tablescape is to introduce some coloured glassware to spice things up. I find that coloured glasses work particularly well with contemporary interior schemes, although they can be very impactful and fun with traditional ones too.  I had a tough time deciding between smoke and teal but you cannot go wrong with either. Both colours are timeless and versatile. In the end, I felt I had overdone the green trend already (or is that even possible?), so smoke felt like a safer bet. Looking at these pictures, I know I made the right choice.  The medium grey colour is even more stunning in real life. It complements our wooden dining table and black velvet chairs beautifully. I think it’s safe to say my stained-glass addiction is not slowing down anytime soon.

PRACTICALITY

Although these glasses may look delicate, they are more robust than you think! I also love that they don’t feel heavy at all and are very comfortable to hold even for longer periods. But, what makes them even more special is that they are dishwasher safe. Yep, you heard me right! I put all my glassware on a delicate wash cycle (spacing them evenly so they don’t hit each other). Coco & Henry advise you to hand-wash them if you want to maintain the logos but I don’t care about that. As long as the colour doesn’t fade, that’s good enough for me. The other thing I love about these glasses is that they are stackable which is great if you’re short of space.

VERSATILE

I love dual-purpose items! I am happy to report that the Marnie carafe easily doubles up as a vase when not in use. I think it would be a real shame to keep it in the cupboard, so ours has now found a new spot in our living room. It’s the ideal size for displaying a few stems or foliage.

TOP QUALITY 100% RECYCLABLE GLASS

I’m so happy to see that Coco & Henry take caring for the planet seriously. All their glassware is made from 100% recyclable materials sourced from the local area. Each recycled item is unique and hand-blown by skilled artisans to ensure you can enjoy them for years to come. The design is perhaps the second most important component in their sustainability goal. A truly timeless design, like the Marnie collection, doesn’t ever go out of style and will last from generation to generation. And that, in my opinion, is a recipe for success.
