MELON MARTINI RECIPE

*In collaboration with Dartington Crystal.

Summer is finally here and I have the perfect cocktail recipe for you that will take home entertaining to a whole new level. I love a bit of heat,  but I do admit that I look for lighter and fruitier cocktails during the summer months. This home-made Melon Martini cocktail (inspired by The Anthony Kitchen) is perfect for summer entertaining. It’s quite light and super refreshing. If you like your cocktails a little stronger, I’d advice adding Cointreau to the mix. You cannot really taste the alcohol in this recipe which is what I wanted. Always opt for fresh juice if you can as it makes a huge difference.

I paired these Limelight Mitre Champagne saucers from Dartington Crystal with the Melon Martini. They are the most stunning champagne saucers I’ve seen. They look so delicate (but really are quite sturdy) and are incredibly versatile. I plan to use them for champagne, martini cocktails and as dessert coupes. I love the vertical cut design and feel that they bring old-school glamour to the dinner table.

Ingredients (2 portions):

40 ml Vodka
40 ml melon juice (freshly squeezed)
20 ml lime juice
10 ml Simple Syrup

Method:

Chop half a watermelon and use a blender to juice it. Then transfer the melon juice to a strainer to get the seeds out. This is the quickest way to make watermelon juice (but you can also juice a watermelon manually). Juice 2 limes using a citrus juicer. You can also do this by hand (although it’ll be a bit more work).

Mix the vodka, simple syrup, watermelon juice and lime juice (with ice) in a cocktail shaker. Shake well for about 10 seconds and strain the liquid into a champagne saucer. If you like your cocktails sweeter add more syrup or add 10 ml Cointreau to make the cocktail stronger.

Happy cocktail making!
