SHOP BY ‘STYLE’ WITH HOMEBODY DECOR

* This is a collaborative post with HomeBody Decor.

Although I’m a huge fan of monochrome interior schemes, when it comes to bedrooms I prefer calming neutrals. From day one I had a pretty strong vision for this room. Our bedroom is quite a generous size, so I wanted to paint the walls (warm) beige to make the space feel more intimate. Our bedroom is the total opposite of our living space. Neutral and calming (you won’t find many monochrome pieces in any of the bedrooms actually). It’s my ‘zen’ space and a place to unwind after a long day. I prefer neutral colours in the bedroom, but I do like the occasional splash of colour. The artwork above our bed adds just the right amount of colour to this room, although I do like to add different textures to soften the space a little.

I added this hat wall few years ago, but I’m not sure I’m finished with it yet. It’s super functional and it has become quite the feature in our bedroom. I have too many hats and it felt like a waste to hide them in the wardrobe. I used Command hooks to hang them up on this big empty space above the TV. I’d like to add few more hats to my hat wall but it looks so much better already. It really softens the interior scheme and makes it feel a bit more casual.

Our bedroom was looking cosier already, but I felt like it needed a few additional accessories to add a bit more warmth and depth to the overall design. I had a Boho Theme already in mind (keeping up with the hat wall style), so I was over the moon when I discovered a brand new home decor brand, HomeBody Decor . HB Decor are an online UK retailer specialising in home accessories and furniture. Their unique idea is to sell products by ‘style’ rather than by ‘item’ allowing you to create your home style easily and affordably. I love that they specialise in quirky, eclectic items that will help you to create a unique personal style. Sounds pretty amazing, right? Especially if you are decorating a new room and don’t know where to start. You can shop products based on 5 different styles to make decorating easy and quick. I find shopping online a little overwhelming sometimes. Shopping by style can help you narrow down your interior choices and make sure that you end up with a cohesive look.

The lovely Jen, who runs HB Decor, asked me to style some of my favourite products based on my personal style. I knew straight away which collections would complement our decor best. Blushing Neutrals and Eclectic Glamour pretty much sum up my decorating style. Mixing relaxed bohemian accessories with more glamorous pieces is exactly what our neutral Scandi bedroom needed. Although I love Scandinavian decor (minimalist furniture with a white/neutral backdrop), ‘Boho Glam’ accessories really give it an edge.

The Boho Mirror from the Blushing Neutrals collection is a real stunner. It’s so pretty that I don’t think I will ever use it as a mirror (if that makes sense at all). I think this mirror is a piece of art, with its white feathers and delicate beading. You could of course use it is as make up mirror, but since I’ve already got one I thought it makes more sense to hang it up on the wall.

I do love the practical mirror stand. It means that you can either put the mirror up on the wall (see picture above) or simply use is as an accessory or a make-up mirror. I think my favourite spot (for now) is next to the bedside table. It definitely brings a bit more light to this corner. Our north facing bedroom can get a little dark sometimes and mirrors are a great way to reflect light around the room.

How cute is this Gold ‘Ok’ hand from the Eclectic Glamour range? It looks so quirky and fun. But this gold hand is so much more than just a pretty accessory. You can use it for decorative purposes or as a jewellery holder. It’s perfect for bracelets, rings etc. It would also make a great house warming gift or you could pair it with the silver Rock On! hand to make a real statement. Don’t worry about mixing silver and gold together. Mixing metallics makes everything look so much more interesting.

I didn’t think it was possible, but I love our bedroom even more now. I’m also really glad that I found HB Decor and the lovely Jen who has done an amazing job curating such a beautiful selection of home accessories and furniture. I also love their shop by ‘style’ concept and hope that you will too. This year has hit small businesses hard and it’s more important than ever to show your support and shop small (whenever you can). You will often find that small businesses give you a much more personalised service and often have a more unique selection of products too.
